Ensuring your right to advocacy

CATS Inc has incorporated a Client Advocate Policy whereby Young People may use an advocate of their choice to negotiate on their behalf. Advocates will be accepted by CATS Inc as representing the interests of the young person. Key aspects of the CATS Advocacy Policy are:

  • The individual need and/or right to an independent advocate is recognised and supported.
  • An advocate is a person, who with the authority of the young person represents the young persons interests.
  • Young people may use an advocate of their choice to negotiate on their behalf.  This may be a family member, friend or advocacy service.
  • Advocates will be accepted by the service as representing the interests of the young person.

Advocates may be used during assessments, reviews, and complaints or for any other communication between the young person and the service.
